Houston Giclee Printing

Giclée printing is a process that uses fade resistant, archival inks and archival substrates to print on large format printers. This method of printing to make reproductions of original 2D artwork, photos or computer generated graphic art for resale has been the answer for artists looking to preserve original works. Giclée (/ʒiːˈkleɪ/ zhee-KLAY or /dʒiːˈkleɪ/) is a neologism coined in 1991 by printmaker Jack Duganne for fine art digital prints made on inkjet printers. The name originally applied to fine art prints created on Iris printers in a process invented in the late 1980s. This method has casually come to mean any inkjet print. We take houston giclee printing seriously.

Now that we have the black and white of giclee out of the way, get to the color ; the vivid reasoning behind what we do what we do for artists here in Houston. A giclee from Starlight Giclee is a precious art piece created & certified on fine art paper to the specifications of the artist. We invite you into the lab to review the entire process from color matching to print. The true color in comparison to the original piece is so important to us! We are very serious about getting this as perfect as possible for you and your buyers. Besides amazingly accurate prints, we provide high resolution scanning, skilled photo restoration and lastly, one on one consultations on how to market your art.

The Process

The process begins by contacting us via phone or email. A fast-track way to get your order going is to fill out our form online. It asks all the important questions about you, your art and when we can get involved. We confirm a time for you to come in and see the studio or bring in your first couple pieces for service. Our Giclee Tech will review the work you bring in and go over the hurdles that come with a particular pieces from the years of experience we have printing artists of many different mediums and varying degrees of color choice. We’ll recommend papers for the subject matter in case you’ve never thought about what you would like to see your work printed on. We can also talk about unique papers you might want to have us procure on your behalf to really personalize your work. We will also give you a quote on the time it might take to get the work serviced to zero-in on the color and make sure it’s a perfect match. We’ll give you the options to leave artwork with us ( which we recommend, nothing beats holding up samples to the original and we can work on your piece around the clock to speed up service ) or whether you’d like to bring the work in, in sessions, to sit in on the process. We can talk about how you’d like to get the work sized up or down for printing.

Whether you’re printing smaller drawings to sell at an event so you can hold onto a popular original, turning a digitally created work into a physical one for impact or turning a one of a kind piece into a two of a kind piece, we can help you out every step of the way.
